Hekate [heh-KAH-tee] is the ancient Greek goddess of witchcraft, crossroads, and the liminal spaces between the worlds. She is whom Whispering Woods envisions when we think about the archetype of the crone or wise woman who resides in a woodland cottage.

This fragrance conjured her image for two reasons: 1) Hekate's deep association with earth, herbal magic, and the shadows of the night, and 2) Hekate is known for protecting doorways, thresholds, and transitions—not unlike a cottage at the edge of civilization where the wild woods begin. With its deeply grounding, dried herb-and-woodsmoke aroma, our Hekate's Hearth artisan soap captures the essence of stepping across one such threshold into a space of wild-but-mindful, feminine magic.

  • Scent is Personal: While we describe each fragrance profile carefully, please keep in mind that olfactory favorites are wonderfully subjective—our absolute favorite smells and scent categories may not necessarily be yours!

How To Care For Your Bar:

  • The Five-Week Cure: Whispering Woods Soapery patiently cures every single batch of soap for a minimum of five weeks. This practice results in a harder, much longer-lasting bar.
  • Keep It Dry: Handcrafted soap naturally carries an abundance of moisture-loving glycerin. Because of this, your bar should be kept dry between uses. For the best performance, keep your soap out of the direct spray of water and rest it on a well-draining soap dish. We promise you it will be much happier this way!
  • Easy Handling: Want a more manageable grip in the shower? You can always cut your soap bar into smaller pieces for easier handling.

A Few Friendly Notes:

  • Colorful Suds: Soaps with rich, dark, or brilliantly vibrant hues can lead to some fun, interestingly-colored lather, so don't be surprised! While we personally have never experienced a single instance of staining during our studio testing, you may want to avoid using your favorite light-colored washcloths with darker bars, just in case.
  • Safety First: As with any new product used on the skin, please discontinue use immediately if irritation occurs.
